Yahoo's New No Content Tag, Is It Ready?
On May 2nd, Yahoo announced a new “no content” tag. The summary of the announcement is that Yahoo will now let you tell their robot (Slurp) to focus “on the main content of your page and targeting the right pages on your site for specific search queries.”
As you can see from the comments on the Yahoo Blog page, most are unhappy with the way they are implementing the new feature.
Others are embracing the new feature and creating new tools to help. This tool is from SEOloser.com and after implementing the no content tag, will tell you what Slurp will block out and what it wont.
Me? I am going to hold off on recommending using it. It is too big of a decision to be the “beta” tester. As with most other Yahoo roll outs, I have seen mass confusion and delays in a fully operational product. If Slurp is programmed incorrectly or there ends up being another technical issue, there will be massive chaos when sites/pages end up dropping in rank or getting removed from their index.
