Internet Response to Virginia Tech Shootings
Today is my day to post to the SEM Zone, but I am so distracted. My bother, Wil, is an undergraduate engineering major at Virginia Tech. He is ok and was no where near Norris at the time of the shootings. All I can think about today is the tragedy that took place at his school and the families that were not as lucky as we are.
So, since it's already on my mind, I decided to look around for information on the Internet response to the shootings. I had already heard about students organizing vigils on facebook, but wanted to see how the blog community has responded so far.
The following article includes some examples of blog posts from VT students:

One blogger tells the story of his girlfriend's experience. She was shot and had to go into surgery but her outlook is good. Another blogger tells of how her ex-boyfriend was supposed to go to class in Norris on the floor where the majority of the students were killed, but was too hungover to get up.
It never fails to amaze me the incredible power the Internet gives people to tell their stories.
Below are some other blog post responses from those outside the university that I found on my own. I found each one to be either interesting or touching in some way...everything from condolences from parents on parentingteensblog.com to opinions on the role of gun control in the tragedy.
