Got employees? Get links.

Scott Gardner, our VP of Sales and Marketing at the search engine optimization company where I work, gave me a great idea about how to get backlinks.

Why not send out an e-mail to your employees asking them to please link back to your company’s website on their personal websites, blogs or social networking profiles like MySpace, Facebook and Friendster?

Many employees would probably be willing to give their employer a link without incentive because they naturally want the company to succeed. Just send out an e-mail explaining the importance of linking and tell them how they can help. Be sure to include the html code and anchor text that you want them to use so that it will be easy even for those who aren’t Internet savvy. And, if you want to increase participation, throw in a small incentive or contest for those that give your website a link.
