Yahoo Ambassador Program Changes

I took the Yahoo Ambassador Test (similar to Google's Certified Professional Program) a few months ago and passed. I received and email from Yahoo on December 4th that the test has been changed due to the new Yahoo sponsored search interface. It also stated that all Ambassadors will have to take the new test by January 31st or they will lose their Ambassador status.

Part of me thought this was a good idea. This would make sure the Ambassadors were current with the new platform. The other part of me was worried because I felt the first test did not ask relevant questions and was not a good reflection of whether or not the person who passed could manage and optimize a Yahoo paid search account. In any case, I took the new test.

I was pleasantly suprized to see that the new test was much more relevant. Yes, it went off on how great Yahoo Sponsored Search is by asking several questions about how many people use yahoo, how many pageviews, etc..., but overall it covered many of the issues a paid search person should know about the new yahoo platform. Many questions were about their new geo-targeting feature, new keyword tool, account set up with new adgroups, and where things are in the account.

If you are planning to take the test, review Yahoo's most recent stats and read up on the new platform which you should find in your sponsored search account or here. They give you your results as soon as you click passed the last answer. You must score an 80% or higher and there are 80 questions. The test is timed (90 minutes), so start in a place you will not get interupted. Good Luck!

I passed, so I get to keep my Ambassador status and because I completed the test before December 15th, Yahoo stated they will send me a Starbucks Gift Card. See ya at Starbucks!!!
