Yahoo Customer Service Part 2

In a post a few weeks ago, I wrote about how I emailed Yahoo sponsored search customer service and over a month after the email, they called me to answer my email. Well guess what, I just received an email from Yahoo with a reply from my original email.

Brief summary:

  • September 20, I emailed yahoo about invoicing a sponsored search account.
  • October 27, they call me to answer my question.
  • November 9, they send me an email, replying to my orginal email from September 20, with the answer.

If only I had a crystal ball to forecast issues that will arise 2 months from now and send an email today about it? Then we would be all set.

Welcome to the World of Visual Search

Call it the search engine of the future. Search company Riya has taken its revolutionary facial recognition software to an entirely new level with its new visual search engine, Like.com.

Like.com now enables individuals to search for a particular item on the internet through images and appearance, not just through the text and keyword components that image searches on traditional search engines utilize. For instance, if you see a photograph of a celebrity wearing a watch or pair of shoes that interest you, Like.com will analyze the visual characteristics of the picture and help you locate similar items for sale on the Web.

Like.com is initially offering a broad range of search categories including jewelry, shoes, and watches. Additional items are being added to the site at an astounding rate of 30,000 per day! Users can search using descriptive terms such as a color or feature of a product, or even upload a photo from their own computer to find similar items.

With the holiday shopping season fast approaching, Like.com could prove to be very useful! For some additional information, check out this article by Nate Mook of BetaNews.com.
