Crosslinking Rules For All, Beginner to Advanced
I have read many articles about crosslinking. Some experts say crosslinking is great and some say not to do it at all. My opinion is that it depends on different factors whether or not you should crosslink.
I have also noticed Yahoo is much more sensitive to crosslinking issues. Many of the sites that I found penalized or banned in Yahoo, and crosslinking was involved, were doing fine in Google. So, if you only care about Google, you may be able to ease up a little on my recommendations.
When can you crosslink?
You have two or three sites on the same IP that sell different products or services. Feel free to crosslink in moderation to each other. What is moderation? Moderation is a link on the home page and a few more throughout the website.
That’s it, I am done on when you can crosslink.
When you should not crosslink?
If you have multiple sites on the same IP selling the same or similar products or services.
Massive crosslinking on the same IP even if the sites have different content. What is massive? I consider massive crossslinking if you have 2 or 3 links to your other sites on almost every page of each site.
Bottom line is this, imagine the engines being able to see all the links between your sites and just the content topics. No reasoning can come into play. Even if it makes sense to you, if you just look at the linking and topics, could it look like you are trying to deceive the engines? If the answer is yes, get rid of it.
The spyders do not have the power to reason. Spyders abide by what they have been programmed. If something does not look right, you may get penalized even though you meant no harm. Why chance it?
