Google Click To Call Coming Soon, I Think?
Google is testing a new "click to call" feature to be used with adwords. This has been in testing for a few months now. Since Google's original announcement, there has not been much mentioned by Google.
I have not seen it in action, but I can tell you I have several concerns already:
1. What is going to prevent others from clicking and adding a fake number? Whether it is a competitor or just some pranksters? Sounds like it will keep the high schoolers busy :)
2. If google pays for the call, why wouldn't I place an ad for the keyword "bladedidifeefofum," or some other made up or rarely searched word, have my brother in California click on it for about 2 cents, and poof FREE long distance phone call. Hmmm... I wonder if international calls are allowed.
3. Tracking. They can probably track the click, but what about tracking conversions, leads, etc... Some work would probably need to be entered on the advertisers side, but this would be great information to have.
As I obtain further information on this subject, I will continue to post my findings.
