Google is Telling Me What to Type

If you have the latest version of the Google toolbar, your brain is in for a treat.

Now, in its latest endeavor to take over the world (where's Pinky?), the new version of the Google toolbar will auto-populate possible suggestions for the keywords you might type in. And so, the Google hand-holding continues...

Type in the word you are searching for in the Toolbar, and you will notice a list of keywords show up below the text box. How will these keyword suggestions impact search overall? Will the "long tail" keywords suffer as this Toolbar feature encourages its users to choose from a select list?

It would be interesting to see if the recommended keywords the Google Toolbar offers become more competitive. No doubt the Keyword Search tools, such as Keyword Discovery and Wordtracker, will note an increasingly higher search frequency for these recommended keywords versus keywords not on the "recommended" Toolbar list.
